Certification of Pressure Equipment

Assisting Manufacturers with Certification of Pressure Equipment

Assisting manufacturers with certification and approval of pressure equipment in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), the Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive (TPED) and the Simple Pressure Vessels Directive (SPVD).

About Certification of Pressure Equipment

All manufacturers of pressure equipment must ensure that their products fulfil essential safety requirements in relevant directives before signing the declaration of conformity and placing the product on the European market. For many types of pressure equipment there are mandatory requirements to involve a notified body in the design and manufacturing process. With DEKRA’s notified body services related to pressure equipment, we help manufacturers to fulfill the mandatory assessment and inspection requirements within the directives for pressure equipment (PED), simple pressure vessels (SPVD) and transportable pressure equipment (TPED).
In order to meet the legal requirements and ultimately place the product on the market, a manufacturer often has to involve a notified body in the manufacturing process. With decades of relevant experience and a worldwide support network, DEKRA is ideally equipped for this service and therefore provides legal certainty for the manufacturer.
As a notified body for pressure equipment, DEKRA performs conformity assessments and inspections related to the following directives and according to the listed assessment modules or inspections.
Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
  • Module A2 – Internal production control plus supervised pressure equipment checks at random intervals
  • Module B – EU-type examination – production type
  • Module B – EU-type examination – design type
  • Module C2 – Type conformity based on internal production control plus supervised pressure equipment checks at random intervals
  • Module D – Type conformity based on quality assurance of the production process
  • Module D1 – Quality assurance of the production process
  • Module E – Type conformity based on pressure equipment quality assurance
  • Module E1 – Quality assurance of final pressure equipment inspection and testing
  • Module F – Type conformity based on pressure equipment verification
  • Module G – Conformity based on unit verification
  • Module H – Conformity based on full quality assurance
  • Module H1 – Conformity based on full quality assurance plus design examination
