IFS Categories

To meet the increasingly high expectations of consumers when it comes to food quality and safety, IFS Food provides an internationally recognized standard for the certification of food producers and enables a consistent control of food quality along the entire food chain.

IFS Logistics certification addresses a central weakness in the food industry supply chain: the transport and storage of foodstuffs. The standard was developed for all logistics activities and targets safety and transparency recognizing that logistics specialists are subject to increasingly complex regulations.

Brokers, agents and importers close the gap in the food industry between manufacturers and sales entities. The IFS Broker certification aims to improve communication at crucial points in the supply chain and to ensure legal obligations are met and customer expectations are satisfied.

To demonstrate the quality, compatibility and safety of food products to customers and consumers, IFS developed its standard for wholesalers and cash and carry markets. Since 2010, the IFS Wholesale/Cash & Carry standard has been the benchmark for this sector of the food industry.

Developed especially for smaller companies in the food industry, IFS Global Markets Food helps organizations with fewer resources or less developed food safety management systems take a first step towards meeting IFS Food requirements. It features a step-by-step assessment process that is more accessible to small companies.

Small logistics companies or those with less developed product safety systems can take advantage of the IFS Global Markets Logistics certificate to gain a foothold on the market. This standard allows companies to fulfill IFS Logistics requirements step by step, according to their means.
