Educational Research

DEKRA is actively engaged in R&D activities on a European and national level

Educational-Research

Since a decade, DEKRA has acted as coordinator and project partner in educational research. Main topics are the debates on the development of a European education policy as well as topics around transport and logistics, IT and health care.

Around three dozen projects with the European Commission, the German National Agency or the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as funding agencies took place and take place with the participation of the DEKRA. Numerous projects are characterized by exceptionally high ratings, one of which has been listed by the European Commission as one of the best projects of the corresponding vintage.

Moreover, DEKRA Academy is actively engaged in R&D activities on a European and national level. Eight decentralized competence centers develop and maintain teaching content including e-learning tools and platforms in the above-mentioned fields. Beyond that, DEKRA University of Applied Sciences acts not only as a higher education institution, but also has its research focus on media and journalism. At a European level, DEKRA has contributed extensively to the development of standards and innovation processes in VET (e.g. EQF and ECVET). It has participated in about 25 transnational projects and is, among others, represented in ECVET network, ReferNet and TTnet.

Featured Projects

DEKRA has extensive experience in European vocational education and training matters through its involvement (as coordinator and partner) in numerous European activities and projects and brings in its expertise in the area of European education and training policy, the implementation of European transparency instruments (EQF and ECVET) as well its expertise with regard to the mobility of health care professionals across borders in Europe and to the qualification of health professionals in Germany.

HCEU develops Competence Profiles (VQTS) for nurses based on actual work processes in nursing and geriatric care.

As an educational system, these can be both an independent basis for the neutral comparison of qualifications and for the visualization of non-formally and informally acquired competences in the context of formal recognition procedures, e.g. in the context of migration. In addition, they form the basis for filling qualification gaps through didactically meaningful modules and supported by the European transparency instrument ECVET.
