Commercial vehicles are becoming safer – not only because of modern assistance systems. Also the braking performance has improved significantly in recent years. A test conducted by DEKRA Accident Research shows how much braking distance can be saved by new technologies.

Even though the media often reports heavy accidents involving trucks, the actual number of accidents is declining. For example in Germany: according to the Federal Statistical Office, the number of accidents with personal injury involving commercial vehicles declined by 20 percent between 2005 and 2016.
