“Caution at the edge of the platform!” SIUT GmbH from Berlin has developed a solution precisely for this danger. A luminous platform edge made of light fiber concrete directs and warns passengers on the platform.
Decision of the jury
The tactile guidance system in the floor provides signals that warn of passing trains, controls passenger flows, and thus avoids crowding and falls. And it provides a visual barrier at the edge of the platform. The system has also proved its practical benefit in test railway stations.

Airbag protective vest against falls
Falls from low heights are among the most frequent accidents at work. The “Bornack Fallbag” by Bornack GmbH & Co. KG from Ilsfeld is designed to provide protection against the worst injuries to the trunk, spine, tailbone, and the back of the head.
Decision of the jury
For work performed at heights between one and three meters, conventional safety measures such as safety nets usually do not work or are not used at all. If there is a fall, a sensor-controlled airbag built into a protective vest is triggered at lightning speed and dampens the impact. For the jury, this solution closes a gap in safety at work.

The entry
Social media skills and the safe use of media - this is also an aspect of cyber security. To prevent the youngest members of society from being caught in a cyber trap and to create awareness of such dangers in the future, Planpolitik GbR from Berlin has developed a media skills game called “Junait”.
Decision of the jury
Children between the ages of 8 and 12 can learn how to handle media in a protected environment. The platform of a social network conveys dangers, pitfalls, and safety tips – an educational tool for the safe use of media.
