Pepper is only 1.2 meters tall and gets around on three wheels. Nevertheless, wherever the humanoid robot shows up, people are always amazed. This includes at the ceremony for the DEKRA Award 2017 at the Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf. “You look fantastic. Great haircut.” Pepper showered the guests with compliments before coming to the point shortly after: “In the future, we will certainly meet more often. We will help to make the world an even safer place...”
“Pepper represents high tech and digitalization and therefore stands in contrast to the heavy industry at this location. However, there is key common ground – and that is safety.”
So said Stefan Kölbl, Chairman of the DEKRA e. V. and DEKRA SE Management Board, greeting over 200 guests.
Every idea, innovation, or initiative that can make the world a safer place needs a stage. And the DEKRA Award provides just that. “Regardless of who is ultimately chosen as the Safety Champion, every one of you really deserves a prize,” said Kölbl, commending the diverse and tireless commitment of participants in all areas.
