DEKRA laboratory in the Netherlands accredited to perform Radiofrequency testing for wireless products
The DEKRA testing laboratory in Arnhem (the Netherlands) is now an accredited facility for the testing of products in the area of Radiofrequency (RF). With the new accreditation added to the scope, the lab is now able to test and certify on all three aspects of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED); electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and Radiofrequency (RF).
After the successful assessment of the testing capabilities, the Dutch National Accreditation Facility (RVA) published the accreditation scope extension of DEKRA Certification B.V. on September 9.
“By adding RF testing to our service portfolio, we are addressing the growing trend of integrating wireless technologies into almost every product in every sector”, says Bram Holtus, Managing Director of DEKRA Certification B.V. in Arnhem. “Every manufacturer of appliances, devices and gadgets with a wireless communication functionality needs to comply with the essential requirements of the Radio Equipment Directive. Products including short range radio (e.g. NFC, RFID, etc.), Bluetooth® and other broadband data transmission and mobile communications can now be tested in the Arnhem laboratory.”
“We are committed to providing a complete solution to a consistently more complex set of customer needs. This includes a leading quality of service, a short time to market and the convenience of having all testing done in one location”, Holtus adds.
DEKRA’s services ensure access to virtually all markets by testing and certifying products according to international standards and requirements. DEKRA is a Notified Body (NB) under the European Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2014/30/EU and Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU, a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) and a Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB) for the USA and an Accredited Laboratory and Certification Body for ISED (Canada), helping customers enter the EU market and countries including the USA, China, Japan and Australia among others.
