What is SERMI?
SERMI (Security-Related Repair and Maintenance Information) is a European-wide initiative that standardizes access to anti-theft-related vehicle data for Independent Operators (IOs). It ensures that legitimate garages and service providers can access essential security-related RMI, while protecting vehicle systems from unauthorized access.
The SERMI framework applies to passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (M), trucks (N), and trailers (O), offering a harmonized approach across the EU.
DEKRA: Accredited Conformity Assessment Body (CAB)
As an accredited CAB under EU Regulation 2018/858, DEKRA Certification is authorized to assess conformity and issue SERMI certificates to eligible workshops and service providers.
We support organizations throughout the entire certification journey—from initial request to post-certification follow-up.

The new steps include:
1. Contract Initiation: The Independent Operator (IO) workshop or Remote Service Supplier (RSS) requests and signs a contract with DEKRA to begin the certification process.

3. Validation and Review: DEKRA experts review the uploaded documentation to confirm compliance with SERMI criteria.
4. Document Updates: Any invalid or expired documents must be replaced with current versions.
5. Notification to the Trust Center: Once validated, DEKRA notifies the Trust Center (TC) of the approval.
6. Issuance of Certificate: DEKRA issues the official SERMI certificate to the approved employee(s). Both IOs and RSSs are granted access to vehicle systems.
7. Ongoing Compliance: An unannounced follow-up onsite inspection will be conducted during the certification period to ensure continued compliance.
