Vision Zero: Our Commitment to a World Without Traffic Fatalities

At DEKRA, we believe that safe mobility is not a luxury, but a fundamental human right. For 100 years, our mission has been to protect people on the move, and today, that mission is unified under the global Vision Zero strategy. The goal is as simple as it is ambitious: a transportation system where no one is killed or seriously injured in road traffic. While modern vehicles are safer than ever, the World Health Organization still reports approximately 1.2 million traffic-related deaths annually. To DEKRA, these are not just statistics – they are a call to action.
Achieving Vision Zero requires a holistic, "Safe System" approach. We analyze the critical intersection of human behavior, vehicle technology, and road infrastructure. We know that humans make mistakes; therefore, the mobility ecosystem must be designed to be "forgiving". Through our global testing centers, accident research units, and advocacy work, we provide the technical expertise needed to build this safety net. Whether it is auditing smart city infrastructure or certifying the latest automated driving systems, DEKRA is at the forefront of the technological shift required to eliminate road casualties.
