Management & Governance

Our sustainability strategy is integrated step-by-step and systematically into all standards and processes of the company. As we at DEKRA live sustainability in a holistic way, we support throughout the group that the processes and guidelines are consistently implemented in all departments - irrespective of the hierarchical level. For us sustainability also implies values such as compliance, integrity and ethical behaviour. All this increases our credibility and trustworthiness and at the same time makes us a valued contact for decision-makers, organisations and institutions at international level.

Transparent Reporting

As an expert organization, we aim to provide our stakeholders with clear, reliable and accessible information on our sustainability objectives, activities and progress. This includes the open communication of goals, measures and results across environmental, social and governance topics.
DEKRA’s sustainability reporting is based on established reporting standards. In earlier years, we reported in accordance with the German Sustainability Code (DNK). Today, our reporting follows the international Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, ensuring greater transparency, comparability and traceability of our sustainability performance.
Looking ahead, we continuously develop our reporting approach in line with evolving regulatory and stakeholder requirements, including the future implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Through transparent reporting, we seek to strengthen trust, support informed dialogue and contribute to a constructive exchange with our stakeholders.

Stakeholder Dialog

Regular and meaningful dialogue with stakeholders is a core element of DEKRA’s sustainability management. Through continuous exchange, we seek to understand stakeholder expectations, assess sustainability‑related impacts and integrate relevant perspectives into the further development of our strategy and activities.
We maintain an ongoing dialogue with key internal and external stakeholders. Internal engagement includes systematic consultations with management and specialist functions as well as company‑wide employee surveys. Externally, we engage with customers, suppliers, policymakers, associations, accreditation bodies, NGOs and the scientific community, ensuring that a wide range of perspectives informs our sustainability approach.
Stakeholder input is a central element of our materiality assessment. In surveys and dialogue formats, stakeholders are asked to assess both the relevance of sustainability topics and the impacts they associate with DEKRA’s business activities. These insights support the identification and prioritisation of material topics and contribute to the continuous improvement of our sustainability management.
Compliance
Integrity, transparency and responsible business conduct are fundamental to DEKRA’s success. Our compliance framework helps ensure that we act ethically, comply with applicable laws and regulations, and maintain the trust of customers, employees and stakeholders worldwide.
