Employees & Society

We are aware of our social responsibility towards employees and society. We respect and value diversity in cultural, social, political and national terms in our workforce and in the countries and societies where we operate as a company. Within the company and in the supply chain, we are committed to compliance with internationally applicable labour rights, such as the guidelines and standards of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
With the DEKRA social standards, which were adopted in 2019, we commit ourselves to principles based on the ILO standards in the following areas: Discrimination and disadvantages, equal opportunities, occupational health and safety, working hours and remuneration, freedom of association and co-determination, freedom of expression and privacy, and the exclusion of child labour, forced labour, slavery and human trafficking.

Health and Safety

The safety and health of our employees is our highest priority. The global occupational safety and health protection management team works throughout the Group to further improve occupational safety at DEKRA. It is our aim to prevent and further reduce occupational accidents and to eliminate potential hazards.
We demand that the provision and assurance of safe and healthy working conditions is ensured and that at least the respective national standards are observed with regard to occupational health and safety. Internal developments in the area of safety and health and corresponding key figures are monitored and evaluated and, based on this, possible improvement measures are derived and implemented.

Employee Dialog

Open and trust-based dialogue with our employees is an essential part of our corporate culture. We actively involve our workforce and employee representatives in discussions on working conditions, organizational development and sustainability‑related topics.
A key instrument of this dialogue is our global employee survey, which has been conducted every second year since 2017. The survey captures employees’ perceptions, experiences and assessments of their work environment across the organization.
The results are systematically discussed in structured team dialogues between managers and employees. Based on these discussions, concrete improvement measures are defined, implemented and followed up. This ensures that employee feedback is translated into action and contributes to the continuous development of DEKRA as an attractive, responsible and sustainable employer.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
At DEKRA, we are committed to a culture of equal opportunity where every individual is empowered to contribute their best work based on their skills and dedication. By fostering a workplace built on mutual respect and meritocracy, we ensure that our global team remains a high-performing environment where the best ideas thrive to solve the safety challenges of the future.

Education and Training

At DEKRA, the expertise of our employees is a key factor for the quality, safety and reliability of our services. Continuous education and training are therefore essential elements of our approach to professional development and long‑term employability.
We invest systematically in the qualification and upskilling of our workforce to meet regulatory requirements, technological developments and evolving market needs. Training and further education support both individual career development and the sustainable performance of the organization.
Digital learning plays a central role in this context. Through our global Learning Management System (LMS), employees worldwide have structured and flexible access to training and development opportunities that are tailored to different roles, target groups and regional needs.

Human Rights Due Diligence

At DEKRA, we take our responsibility for respecting human rights seriously. Both within our own organization and along the value chain. Even as a service provider with a comparatively less complex supply chain, human rights due diligence is an integral part of our sustainability approach.
We are committed to internationally recognized human rights standards, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations and the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Our principles are set out in the DEKRA Social Standards, which define our commitment to labour and human rights and describe the processes for effective implementation. These standards are aligned with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights as well as the German National Action Plan (NAP) for Business and Human Rights.
In procurement, we continuously develop standards and processes to address human rights and broader sustainability aspects within purchasing and supply chain management. This supports our aim to identify potential risks, promote responsible business practices and ensure compliance with our expectations throughout the supply chain.
