DEKRA Product Testing expands globally with ENEC services
DEKRA China authorized for ENEC battery certification
DEKRA, a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, announced that its Guangzhou Testing Center has been officially authorized to issue ENEC (European Norms Electrical Certification) approvals for Lithium-ion Batteries used in Emergency Lighting. DEKRA China is the first testing body in China able to provide this kind of certification services, further streamlining the path for Chinese lighting and battery manufacturers to enter European and global markets.
With deep technical expertise and forward-looking deployment, DEKRA has become the world’s first – and currently the only – organization and laboratory authorized to issue ENEC certification for Lithium-ion Batteries used in Emergency Lighting. The DEKRA location Arnhem/The Netherlands is already accredited for some time and has wide experiences to test batteries for emergency lighting. Recently, DEKRA Certification B.V., Arnhem, has issued the world’s first ENEC emergency lighting battery certificate according to ENEC-ERS 001 to global brand Tridonic. The parties completed the pilot certification together with participation of the DEKRA experts in the Netherlands and China, setting an industry benchmark in this field.
Certification testing of lithium-ion battery products used in emergency lighting strictly follows the relevant European safety standards and comprehensively assesses core indicators including battery safety, reliability, cycle life, environmental adaptability and emergency power stability. The testing particularly focuses on lithium-ion battery protective performance under extreme scenarios such as overheating and short circuits, preventing safety risks caused by battery failures in emergency lighting equipment at the source.
This latest authorization is another breakthrough for DEKRA China in the ENEC certification and further enriches its multi-category, full-standard recognition matrix. DEKRA China’s current ENEC scope already comprehensively covers four core categories: BATT (batteries); CONT (switches for appliances and automatic controls for electrical household appliances); LITE (lighting); and INST (installation accessories and connection devices). With localized, full-category certification services, DEKRA China offers more comprehensive and efficient compliance solutions to help Chinese companies enter the European market and quickly overcome international certification barriers.
ENEC certification is an electrical product safety certification program initiated by CENELEC (the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) and led by ETICS (the European testing, inspection and certification system). It has evolved into a globally recognized and highly respected electrical safety mark across Europe.
