DEKRA at the ITF Summit in Leipzig
Valued partner for making future mobility safe, secure, and sustainable
- Invitation to the Ministers’ Roundtable on transport and climate change
- DEKRA expert speaks on cybersecurity in terms of infrastructure
- World's largest meeting of transport ministers
At the ITF Summit in Leipzig, Germany, from May 21 to 23, the most important conference on transport policy and the largest meeting of transport ministers worldwide, DEKRA’s expertise will be in demand. The international expert organization will contribute regarding several topics concerning the approximately 1,200 participants from 80 countries. This year's event will focus on transport resilience to global shocks, including climate change.
The Ministers’ Roundtable on Wednesday, May 21, will discuss the topic “Transport and Climate Change: Moving Forward From COP29”. Ministers and state secretaries from Chile, South Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Turkey will be in attendance, along with representatives from vehicle manufacturers and associations. Christoph Nolte, Executive Vice President and Head of the Service Division Vehicles, will be representing DEKRA.
“The transport sector is responsible for almost a quarter of CO2 emissions worldwide. Decarbonizing transport is important in the fight against climate change”, said Nolte. ”DEKRA supports the transition to sustainable mobility and has, for example, extensive expertise in a wide range of areas related to electric mobility. We are delighted to be able to contribute this expertise at the highest political level at the ITF Summit.”
In the field of e-mobility DEKRA, offers services including vehicle and component homologation, battery health assessment, safe charging infrastructure, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), cybersecurity, and employee training. Another focus is battery safety: the new Battery Test Center at the DEKRA Technology Center in Klettwitz (Brandenburg, Germany) is scheduled to open in the second half of 2025.
Automation and connectivity also play an important part in future mobility – and with them the question of how connected vehicles and infrastructure can be protected against hacker attacks and manipulation. Rubén Lirio Vera, Head of Cybersecurity Services at DEKRA, will speak in the session “Cybersecurity for transport resilience: protecting critical infrastructure”. The session will discuss strategies for cross-border cooperation between all stakeholders to make the tomorrow’s transport systems safe.
DEKRA has been committed to safety and sustainability since 1925, with road traffic at the heart of its activities from the very beginning. “DEKRA has, through all those years, always been tackling the challenges facing mobility in a targeted manner, drawing on its technical expertise and decades of experience”, says Christoph Nolte. “DEKRA began vehicle inspection 100 years ago and is now the global leader in this field. We are convinced that periodical technical inspection will also be an essential component of sustainable mobility in the future.”
