The master of electromagnetic waves
Get to know Zachariel, DEKRA employee in the EMC laboratory in Stuttgart.
More security with interference frequencies
Our colleague Zachariel works in the EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) laboratory at DEKRA in Stuttgart. There, the 41-year-old conducts tests on electrical household appliances, industrial equipment, and consumer goods such as e-scooters. Using antennas, he deliberately “fires” interference frequencies at them, such as those emitted by other WiFi devices. This allows him to determine whether they are shielded in accordance with regulations and whether they function even under difficult conditions.
From studying in Malaga to becoming an integral part of the EMC laboratory in Stuttgart
Zachariel gained his expertise while studying at the University of Málaga, where he earned a bachelor's degree in telecommunications. He emigrated from Venezuela to Spain with his family over 20 years ago. After completing his studies, he started an internship at DEKRA in Málaga in 2017. “After a year, DEKRA offered me a permanent position in the infotainment validation team for the products of a renowned American car manufacturer. Following the sale of its European partner, the company wanted to continue conducting vehicle tests in Germany, so I was transferred to DEKRA headquarters in Stuttgart in 2019. Finally, I was offered the opportunity to work permanently in the new EMC laboratory.”
With our certification, the customer or end user can be sure that the device works as it should.

Two worlds collide: electromagnetic testing and real estate
Zachariel is proud to work for a company with a hundred years of history. He particularly values his job in Germany because of the pleasant working environment and economic stability. “Of course, I had some problems getting to know people at first, partly because I didn't speak a word of German,” he recalls. “But I'm learning fast and have now settled into my new home in Stuttgart.”
Nevertheless, he remains loyal to his “old” home: he visits his family in Málaga several times a year and works with his father in real estate. Together, they renovate apartments and houses. However, his attempts to explain to his beloved relatives exactly what he does at DEKRA have failed. “It's hard to explain electromagnetic testing to amateurs,” he laughs. “But they know that I certify things.” And in his private life? Zachariel likes to go out, as he lives very centrally in Stuttgart. He also travels a lot and is passionate about following the business news in the newspaper.
Safety always in focus
In short, his role at DEKRA is to make the world safer: "With our certification, the customer or end user can be sure that the device works as it should. Take the e-bike I tested yesterday, for example. If it breaks down at full speed, around 20 to 25 kilometers per hour, due to an interference frequency, it would come to an abrupt halt – which could obviously have serious consequences."
