Plant operators are increasingly requesting remote inspections. DEKRA is now offering remote assisted inspection (RAI) as a global service, facilitating efficient and cost-saving inspections and safety checks with possibilitiy to involve DEKRA experts from all around the world. A new solution makes it possible to perform such inspections in real time.
Remote assisted inspection (RAI) is an innovative and sustainable solution that increases the efficiency of industrial inspections and reduces the costs and effort involved. RAI enables an expert to support inspections via live stream, literally from the other side of the world. In many DEKRA projects, RAI is resulting in previously unmatched levels of efficiency and safety for plant operators in terms of cost and the complex scheduling associated with, for example, long travel times and the limited availability of relevant experts.
On the basis of a streaming solution developed by DEKRA’s Industrial Assets Service Division, the company has now optimized RAI services worldwide. The new platform, which has currently been used to inspect for instance wind turbines and cranes, can also be deployed in other industrial sectors. The technology enables latency-free live streaming, video recording, and connection options to all kinds of devices, including drones, smart glasses, and action cameras.
By automatically blurring faces during recording and centrally storing data and images, the system ensures customers’ data security and legal compliance. DEKRA is already using the innovative inspection technology with success in projects around the world, for example, in the Middle East region or to monitor production in manufacturing facilities in China.
