About PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425

The objective of PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 is to guarantee the health and safety of users by regulating the development and manufacture of personal protective equipment (PPE). It has been a binding regulation in all EU states since 2016 and differentiates between three categories of PPE based on the severity of possible risks. As components of breathing apparatus, facepieces are included in category III.
Category III PPE protects against serious health risks such as toxic gases, harmful biological agents or oxygen deficiency. As the users often cannot assess the risks themselves, particularly high safety requirements have been placed on this PPE and as a consequence, stringent testing and certification procedures have been stipulated.
