European Road Safety Charter

  • is an action program launched by the European Union with the aim of halving the number of road accident victims in EU countries by 2020 compared to 2010.
  • is a formal declaration of intent. With it, the signatory companies have committed themselves to the joint task of saving 25,000 lives on the roads.
  • includes measures to encourage road users to behave sensibly, make vehicles safer, and improve road infrastructure.
Alongside numerous associations, local authorities, and car manufacturers from all EU member states, DEKRA was one of the first signatories to the charter.
DEKRA has been committed to road safety for more than 90 years. The mission statement from the founding charter of the German Motor Vehicle Inspection Association from 1925 is still valid today.
