What is Euro NCAP?
Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) is the leading independent consumer safety rating organization for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, and heavy goods vehicles (HGV). V2X Testing
From 2026, Euro NCAP formally recognizes V2X-based Local Hazard Warning (LHW) services within the Safe Driving Vehicle Assistance assessment. To achieve the highest safety rating, vehicle manufacturers must submit specific self-declarations with evidence. This process requires accurate documentation and proof of service operation, and involves several stages, including:
- Proofs and evidence of compliance.
- OEM self-declaration.
- Data Sharing Confirmation.
- Local Hazard Services self-declaration.
DEKRA provides independent, accredited pre-testing and self-declaration support for V2X Euro NCAP, covering both cloud-based and direct communication channels to help you optimize Euro NCAP scores in connected safety.
For cloud-based V2X, Euro NCAP refers to the Data for Road Safety (DFRS) ecosystem. To score points, OEMs must demonstrate that vehicle data is effectively received and/or transmitted to the DFRS ecosystem for relevant local hazards.
