DEKRA is now a Notified Body for Construction Products in accordance with the EU Construction Products Regulation. At its Saarbrücken location, the materials engineering and damage analysis unit of DEKRA Automobil GmbH provides the manufacturers of construction products with the certification required by law.

The Notified Body for Construction Products assesses the conformity of products in accordance with the EU Construction Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011) before these products are placed on the market in the EU. Many construction products may only be marketed in the EU if they carry the CE mark, which requires a conformity assessment procedure to ensure compliance with the applicable technical rules.
The DEKRA experts of the Notified Body act as independent third parties to assess and verify the constancy of performance of the product and the manufacturer's factory production control
The specified certification program usually includes product testing, initial inspection of the manufacturing plant, testing of the factory production control and continuous monitoring, assessment and evaluation of the process
The Notified Body for Construction Products has been accredited by the German Accreditation Body (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle – DAkkS) in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17065 and by the associated national authorizing body (Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik – DIBt). The Notified Body is listed by the European Commission with the number 2266.
Currently, the Notified Body is primarily concerned with couplers for mechanical splices of reinforcing steel bars and connecting elements for steel construction. Extensions to the scope of approval are being prepared and, in the future, will cover other specialist areas.
DEKRA already has extensive expertise in the field of construction products. For many years, the materials engineering and damage analysis unit at the company’s Saarbrücken location has been recognized as a national testing, monitoring, and certification body by the responsible German authorities in accordance with Building Regulations List A; it operates a materials laboratory accredited by the German Accreditation Body (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle – DAkkS) in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. The materials laboratory offers testing of steel rebars and metal construction products in accordance with the corresponding standards and type approvals.
