DEKRA Presents Cybersecurity Innovation at IEEE ICE25 Conference in Valencia

Jun 27, 2025

Supporting EU Cyber Resilience through R&D, Certification, and the EU funded CUSTODES Project: “A Certification approach for dynamic, agile and reUSable assessmenT fOr composite systems of ICT proDucts, servicEs, and processeS”, (GA No. 101120684)

Stuttgart / Valencia, June 2025 – DEKRA, a global leader in Testing, Inspection, and Certification, showcased its cybersecurity research at the prestigious IEEE International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE25, 31st Edition), held in Valencia, Spain, from June 16–19, 2025 ( https://ice-conference.org ).
The presented scientific paper, titled “Towards Automated Certification Framework of Composite Systems: A SWRL-Based Approach,” was delivered by Dr. Jasmin Ćosić on behalf of DEKRA’s Information and Cyber Security Department, and its contribution to the EU Horizon Europe project CUSTODES. The paper was co-authored by Marga Martín Sánchez and Antonio David Vizcaíno Gómez (DEKRA TC SAU Málaga), Dražen Morog (DEKRA SE) and Chatzopoulou Argyro (APIROPLUS Solution, Cyprus).
The research explores how semantic technologies—such as ontologies and rule-based reasoning can automate certification workflows for composite systems, enabling structured, and scalable cybersecurity assessments. This approach aligns with the requirements defined in the EU Cybersecurity Act (CSA) and the upcoming Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), both of which emphasize traceability, explainability, transparency and consistency in digital products.

This work reflects our commitment to translating cybersecurity regulation into practical instruments, especially for SMEs and digital product manufacturers. IEEE ICE25 provided a valuable platform to explore how cyber-security and compliance can be streamlined through innovation and research.
