Touring Car Classics

Back to the roots

DEKRA and the Touring Car Classics

The expert organization has already been supporting the DTM as a technical partner since 1989. “We are pleased to see the DTM cars from the 1980s and 1990s in action again,” says Guido Kutschera, CEO of DEKRA Automobil GmbH. And, appropriately, the Touring Car Classics are holding individual races in the supporting program of the DTM, in which DEKRA is active as an official technical partner and series sponsor.

Touring Car Classics

In each event, the private and gentleman drivers of the Touring Car Classics complete a free practice and a qualifying session, thereafter a 40-minute race with an obligatory pit stop and an optional driver change. Thus, two drivers can share a cockpit; however, one driver can also drive the entire race distance alone.

The touring cars from two decades of German motor racing history will start in different classes, depending on the year of construction and the performance, and will recruit from former DTM racing vehicles and from cars of the International Touring Car Championship (ITC) as well as from the Super Touring Car Cup (STW). Some of the stars from that time, such as Ellen Lohr, Volker Strycek, and Kurt Thiim, will also take to the wheel again. Thus, maximum driving enjoyment and the finest of touring car spectacles are guaranteed, just like 30 years ago. And DEKRA is part of the ride: The company presents the start numbers of the legendary touring cars with its striking retro logo and will accompany their comeback up-close.
