With high voltage into the future

Purely electric karting: The German Electric Kart Championship (Deutsche Elektro-Kart-Meisterschaft - DEKM) is the first purely electric karting race series in the world to consciously focus on forward-looking technologies. DEKRA has been supporting the innovative championship as a technical partner since 2018.

It is a classic "win-win situation": DEKM benefits from the know-how that DEKRA has built up over decades in other motorsport series such as the DTM. And DEKRA's involvement in the electric kart series sharpens its expertise in the field of electric mobility. As DEKM's technical partner, DEKRA carries out the tests on the high-voltage system and the batteries and also certifies them at DEKRA Certification in Arnhem.

The Project E20 e-kart accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 135 km/h. A full battery charge guarantees a racing distance of 16 minutes. The special thrill here is provided by the "boost button function": this increases the permanent power of the e-karts from 20 kW to 24kW for a few seconds and guarantees thrilling overtaking maneuvers. Centralized use of the e-karts guarantees equal opportunities in the field, while strictly regulated test days and tire quotas ensure cost efficiency.

The DEKM races will take place in 2021 as part of the German Kart Championship (Deutsche Kart-Meisterschaft - DKM) as well as during the Rotax MAX Challenge Germany.

Thus, high levels of excitement are ensured in the electric series.
