RoHS - restriction of hazardous substances

Chemical analysis for testing RoHS requirements

According to the EU Directive 2011/65/EC on the restriction of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic devices, no electrical or electronic products can be launched on the market any more, with a few specific exceptions, whose homogeneous materials exceed the limits for certain heavy metals and brominated flame retardants.

DEKRA supports you with accredited RoHS analyses and meaningful test reports for incoming goods inspection and quality assurance. We offer targeted inspection concepts using selective and risk-based sampling tests or extensive full analyses of homogeneous materials, equipment components, parts and complex products.

Range of RoHS analysis services:

  • XRF screenings and quantitative chemical analysis (DIN EN 62321)
  • Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (CrVI), Mercury (Hg)
  • Brominated flame retardants: Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
  • Phthalates (plasticizers): DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP (Commission delegated directive (EU) 2015/863)

Additionally, tests according to customer-specific requirements are also possible. These include further flame retardants (HBCDD, TBBPA) and chlorine compounds (PVC, „halogen free“, SCCP) or environmental programs such as the EPEAT label. We also support you if you have analytical questions regarding ELV, recycling, electronic waste, rare earths, precious metals or other critical substances.

Our experts will be happy to advise you.
